The Portals tab in Settings > Lead Sources pulls the enquiries on your JamesEdition listings into Gene App every hour, as leads from the source JamesEdition.

Each lead carries the listing reference it came in on, and the enquiry itself lands in the lead's notes. When that listing is in your Properties, Gene App links the lead to it as the lead arrives and adds it to the lead's Interested in, so Gene can answer about it. This always happens; it does not need property auto-link. A reference that is not in your Properties (JamesEdition's own listing number, for example) falls back to the listing's headline, and links nothing when the headline names none of your properties.

Connect JamesEdition#

1. Get an API token from your JamesEdition account manager.
2. Paste it into API token. It saves as you paste.
3. Saving the first token switches the import on and starts the first sync straight away.

Tip

Save the token when you are ready for Gene to start answering. Everything that arrived before is imported quietly.

What happens on the first sync#

• The first sync brings in the last 90 days of enquiries without messaging anyone.
• Enquiries that arrive after you first saved the token get the usual AI welcome.
• No enquiry is imported twice.
• An enquiry from someone already in Gene App (for example a contact brought over from your old CRM) does not create a second contact. It is still linked to the matching property in your Properties, just as a new lead would be.

Controls on the card#

• On/off switch: turns the hourly import on or off. It stays off, and cannot be switched on, until an API token is saved. Until then the card says to paste one.
• API token: stored encrypted and never shown again. Paste a new one to replace it.
• Remove token: shown once a token is saved. After you confirm, the token is deleted and the import switches off. Leads already imported stay. Paste a token again to start importing.
• Sync now: runs an import straight away instead of waiting for the hour. Shown once a token is saved, and only works while the switch is on.

Status#

Shown once a token is saved:

• when the last sync ran and how many new leads it brought in (or that no sync has run yet)
• how many JamesEdition leads are in Gene App in total
• any still waiting

A lead that could not be imported (no phone or email, or failing repeatedly) is counted in red, and the Gene team is alerted.

Good to know#

What Gene says to these leads (the welcome flow, the Gene AI switch, routing) is set on the JamesEdition source under Flows > Inbound.

Tips#

• Save the token when you are ready for Gene to start answering: everything that arrived before is imported quietly.
• If a sync fails, the status line says why. A wrong or expired token is the usual cause, so paste a fresh one.
