Comments
Read and answer every comment on your published posts in one inbox, or let an AI agent answer them for you.
On this page
Comments (Posts > Comments) collects the comments people leave on the posts Gene App published, across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, into one list. Use it to answer people without opening each network, or let the AI answer for you.
How it fills#
Gene App checks your published posts every fifteen minutes and pulls in anything new.
It is not instant, and that is a limit of the networks rather than a choice: neither Facebook nor Instagram will answer "every comment across every post" in one go, so each recent post has to be checked in turn.
Only posts from the last thirty days are checked. A property post stops attracting comments long before that.
Working through them#
- Filter by network, or by Needs a reply to see only the ones nobody has answered.
- The search box matches the text of a comment, from three letters up.
- A blue dot means nobody has opened it yet. Replying marks it read.
Replying#
- Press Reply.
- Write your answer, or press Ask the agent to have a draft written into the box for you.
- Send it.
The reply goes out on the network as your Page, your Instagram account or your LinkedIn author, and appears under the comment there. It is recorded here too, so the inbox shows what was said.
Ask the agent never sends anything by itself. You read the draft, change it if you want, and press Reply.
Letting the AI answer on its own#
Under Posts > Settings there is a switch: Let the AI answer public comments. With it on, the agent answers new comments by itself, without anyone reading them first.
WarningBe deliberate about switching this on. The replies are public, they go out in your name, and nobody sees them before the world does.
What the agent does#
It is built to:
- Answer in one or two sentences, then invite the person to send a direct message.
- Never quote a price, an availability, a payment plan or anything legal. Those change, and a wrong one in public is a real problem. It points people to messages for anything specific.
- Never ask for a phone number or an email in public.
- Reply in whatever language the comment was written in.
What it leaves for a person#
It refuses to touch:
- Reactions with no words in them, like "🔥🔥" or "❤️". Answering those is what makes an account look automated.
- Anything shorter than about three letters.
- Anything reading like a complaint: a refund, a scam accusation, a mention of lawyers. The one thing worse than a slow answer to an angry customer is a cheerful instant one.
It also drops any draft that comes out too long, that reads like a letter rather than a comment, or where the model started explaining itself instead of answering. When that happens the comment is simply left unanswered and shows up in the inbox as needing a reply.
House rules#
House rules lets you add anything specific to your business, for example which office to name. It is added to what the agent already knows. It saves as you type, with a Saving..., then Saved marker next to the label. Steering people into direct messages is built in and cannot be switched off, because that is the entire point of the feature.
How many it answers#
At most five comments are answered per run, so at most twenty an hour. That cap is deliberate: it is the limit on how much can go wrong before someone notices.
What this needs#
The inbox needs a one-time database update. Until it is applied the tab says so, and nothing else on the Posts page is affected.
