Overview
What Gene App is, the first things to set up in order, and where to go next
Overview#
Gene App is an AI company in a box for real estate sales teams. Gene's AI agents handle lead conversations on WhatsApp, and the app is the CRM that wraps around them.
When someone messages a connected WhatsApp number, Gene's AI auto-reply agent can answer on its own, qualify the lead, and keep the conversation moving. Everything that happens lives in the CRM, so your team sees the contact, the thread, and where the lead sits in the pipeline.
The product has two halves that work together:
- The AI agents, which read and reply to incoming messages.
- The CRM around them: Inbox, Pipeline, Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Flows, and Analytics.
You stay in control. Conversations show up in the Inbox so a person can step in at any time, and the AI handles the rest.
Set up Gene in four steps#
Do these in order. Most of what Gene does for you starts once a WhatsApp number is live.
- Connect a WhatsApp number. This lets Gene send and receive messages, and it is the first thing to do. See Connect WhatsApp.
- Set up your business profile and your team under Settings.
- Business Profile holds your company details, which Gene uses for outreach, scheduling, and how your business is presented to leads.
- Team is where you invite teammates so leads can be assigned to them.
- Teach the AI about your business. On the AI page, fill in the Sales agent, Company, Conversion, and Knowledge sections, so the assistant has real context to work from. See AI Agents.
- Let leads come in. New conversations appear in the Inbox, and the AI agent can begin replying.
- Whether Gene replies on a channel is set by that channel's own switch on Flows > Inbound (for example Gene AI replies on WhatsApp). See Inbound.
You do not have to write replies yourself. Once WhatsApp is connected, Gene's AI auto-reply agent can respond to leads for you, and you can jump into any conversation from the Inbox.
TipHome shows setup nudges at the top of its Tasks card. Each one links straight to the page where you finish that step. See Home.
Where to go next#
- Home: your daily starting point, with today's tasks and agenda.
- Inbox: every conversation, where you can step in at any time.
- Pipeline: move work along, stage by stage.
- Contacts: keep records of everyone you deal with.
- Calendar and Tasks: your meetings and to-dos.
- Analytics: watch your results.
- Command palette: press Cmd+K or Ctrl+K to jump anywhere fast.
Notices at the top of the screen#
When something needs your attention, a bar appears at the top of every screen. Only one bar shows at a time, and the most urgent comes first, in this order:
- The workspace is scheduled for deletion.
- A WhatsApp number is disconnected.
- Instagram or Messenger is disconnected.
- Messages are failing to send. The bar names the cause, for example no credits left or an email domain that is not verified.
- The reminder to connect your calendar.
- Gene's rotating announcements.
When more than one is waiting, the edges of the others peek out under the bar and a "‹ 1 of 3 ›" control sits beside it. Use the arrows to step through them.
Each bar keeps its own link or button to fix the problem. Dismissing one that has a Dismiss or X brings up the next.
Tips#
- WhatsApp is the first thing to connect. Most of what Gene does for you starts once a number is live.
- WhatsApp is the main channel today. The CRM holds your contacts, pipeline, and conversations in one place around it.
- Use the command palette to reach any page or individual setting without hunting through the sidebar. To find a person, use the search box on Contacts.
