AI captions
Have Gene write a post's caption and hashtags from a listing's facts, fitted to the networks you are posting to.
On this page
AI captions save you writing a post's caption from scratch. With AI captions on, the composer has a Write caption button next to the Caption label.
Pressing it opens a small box, What should Gene write about?, with a Write button. Gene writes the caption and up to five hashtags, and puts them in the caption box for you to read and change before anything is published. What you type in the small box is only an instruction to Gene and is never posted.
What it writes from#
Three things, and nothing else:
- The listing you chose in the composer: its name, tagline, place, price, bedrooms, bathrooms, size, handover, payment plan, amenities, what is nearby, description and page link, as they are in Properties.
- Your instruction, in the What should Gene write about? box. With a listing chosen it is optional ("open house on Saturday"); without one, it is what the post is about.
- The networks you ticked. Instagram shows only the first line or so in the feed, so the point goes first. LinkedIn reads more professional. The caption is kept under the tightest limit of the networks ticked, hashtags included.
Every number and every phone number, email or web address in the caption has to come from the listing or from your instruction. A draft that adds one is thrown away rather than shown to you.
What a caption from a listing looks like#
Unless your instruction asks for something else, a caption written from a listing has one line per point, leaving out any the listing has no facts for:
- A headline: the listing name and what it is.
- The location.
- The price, exactly as the listing shows it. A listing with no price shown (price on request) gets no price line.
- Bedrooms, bathrooms and size.
- Handover and payment plan.
- Three to five key features, from the amenities, what is nearby or the description.
- A call to action, ending with the listing's link when it has one.
Then the hashtags.
Developer and owner names#
Captions leave out the property's developer and owner by default, whether Gene writes them automatically for a new listing or you ask for one from the composer. A manager can turn on Name the developer under Posts > Settings > New listings (or on the planner, From a listing > Every new listing) to include the listing's developer in both. Owner names stay private in every generated caption.
With the developer option off, Gene removes developer and owner names from listing text before writing the caption. With it on, the developer may be named only when the listing provides that name. Owner names are still removed, and a generated draft that names one is rejected.
How to use it#
- In the composer, choose a listing, and tick the networks you are posting to under Post to.
- Press Write caption.
- In What should Gene write about?, add an instruction (optional with a listing; without one, say what the post is about), then press Write.
- Read the caption and hashtags in the box, change them if you want, then publish or schedule.
Starting from a listing#
Create post at the bottom of a listing's editor, or From a listing > One listing on the planner, opens the composer with that listing's photos in and a caption already drafted. Nothing is published until you press Publish or Schedule.
Replacing a caption#
Pressing Write again replaces Gene's last caption straight away, as long as you have not touched it. If the box holds anything you typed or edited, it asks before replacing it.
When the model is unavailable#
If Gene cannot reach the writing model, or its draft fails the fact check, you get a plain caption written from the listing facts instead, in the same shape (headline, location, price, rooms and size, handover, key features, the link, hashtags), with a note saying so. Edit it, or press Write again.
With no listing chosen there are no facts to fall back on, so the note asks you to try again or write it yourself.
Limits and cost#
Write caption is limited to 30 captions a minute per workspace. It uses no credits.
