Your daily starting point in Gene App, showing today's tasks and agenda

Overview#

Home is the first screen you see in Gene App, and your daily starting point. It shows what needs you today.

From top to bottom, it:

  • Greets you and sums up today in one line (meetings and open tasks).
  • Shows your daily check-in streak as a small flame at the top right, where the streak is turned on.
  • Lays out your tasks and today's agenda.

Most of the screen is read-only.

What you can do#

  • See all (top of the Tasks card) takes you to the full Tasks screen.
    • The card itself shows your three most pressing open tasks plus any setup nudges.
    • There are no complete or edit controls on Home.
  • Open calendar (top of the Agenda card) takes you to the Calendar. The Agenda shows today's events on a full-day timeline (8 AM to 9 PM) with a live "now" marker.
  • Setup nudges (pinned at the top of the Tasks card) are one-click links that finish a setup step (for example "Import your contacts" or "Train Gene on your FAQs"). Each links straight to the page where you complete it.
    • Only the top three outstanding steps show. Show N more setup steps expands the rest.
    • A few of them can be dismissed with the X.
  • The streak flame (top right, next to the greeting, where the daily check-in streak is turned on) reopens the Checked in for today popup with your streak and the countdown. Opening it never checks in again or adds credits.

Every widget and nudge is listed in full under Details below.

Tips#

  • Home reads best as a morning check. Skim the summary line, clear any overdue tasks and work through a setup nudge or two.
  • The Agenda always renders the full day even when empty, so a quiet day still reads like a schedule. If nothing is scheduled it says "Nothing scheduled today".
  • To chat with Gene from Home, open the AI sidebar like on any other page.

Details#

Everything on the Home screen, top to bottom, for when you need to look something up. Home is a single scrolling screen with no tabs, view modes, filters, sorts or dropdown menus, and it opens no drawers. The only overlay you open from it is, where the daily check-in streak is turned on, the streak popup, through the flame next to the greeting. That popup also opens by itself once a day, on Home like on any other page.

The layout, in order:

  1. Greeting and day summary, with the daily check-in streak flame at the top right (only where the streak is turned on)
  2. Home banner
  3. Today (Tasks card and Agenda card, side by side)

Greeting and day summary#

  • Greeting (the page heading) reads "Good morning", "Good afternoon", or "Good evening" plus your first name.
    • It is chosen by your local hour: morning before noon, afternoon before 6 PM, evening after.
    • If your name is unknown it shows the time-of-day greeting alone, never the email.
  • Day summary (line below the greeting, with a dot icon) reads "Today · N meetings · N open tasks".
    • The meeting count is today's calendar events. The task count is your open (pending) tasks.
    • Singular "meeting" is used when there is exactly one.

Daily check-in streak#

Where the daily check-in streak is turned on, a small flame with your streak day (for example 3) sits at the top right, level with the greeting. On a computer a thin bar of seven segments next to it fills in one segment per day done; on a phone only the flame and the number show.

Click it to open the same Checked in for today popup you see once a day: "Day N of 7 done.", the 7-day row with each day's credits, and the countdown to the next check-in. Opening it again never adds credits a second time. The number moves on by itself at midnight in your workspace's timezone, even if Home is left open. See Daily check-in streak for how the streak and its credits work.

Home banner#

A raised card under the greeting. It carries the Gene wordmark, and the headline "Welcome to your AI workspace" (no separate eyebrow line), plus a hand-and-device photo.

A status chip floats over the photo: "Gene online" (green dot), or "Finish setup" (amber dot) while your workspace still has setup steps to do before Gene can work your leads. On a phone the chip is hidden. The banner has no controls; it is presentation only.

Today#

A section labeled "Today" holding two cards in a two-column grid: Tasks on the left, Agenda on the right.

Tasks card#

  • Title "Tasks" with an open-count subtitle ("N open").
  • See all link (top right, arrow icon) goes to the Tasks screen.
  • Setup nudges are pinned above real tasks (see "Setup nudges" below).
  • Task rows: up to 3 open tasks. Each row shows:
    • A circle icon and the task title.
    • A second line with the linked contact name and due text. Due text is one of: "No due date", "due today", "due tomorrow", "in N days", "1d overdue", or "Nd overdue".
    • An Overdue badge (red pill) when past due.
  • Empty state: when there are no open tasks and no setup nudges, it shows a circle icon and "You're all caught up". New tasks appear there as Gene creates them.

There are no inline complete or edit controls on Home; tasks are managed on the Tasks screen.

Setup nudges#

Setup nudges are pinned at the top of the Tasks card while a setup step is incomplete. Each one is a real task row, removed once the step is done or, for dismissible wins, dismissed.

  • Only the top 3 outstanding show. A Show N more setup steps button (chevron) expands the rest, toggling to Show less.
  • Each nudge shows an icon, title, description, and a colored call-to-action link.
  • Dismissible wins also show an X to dismiss.

Agenda card#

  • Title "Agenda".
  • Open calendar link (top right, arrow icon) goes to the Calendar.
  • Timeline: a full-day track from 8 AM to 9 PM with an hour line for every hour (the day always looks full, even when empty).
    • Today's events sit in the hour they start, each shown as a soft-accent box with the event title and start time.
    • A live accent "now" marker (line plus dot) tracks the current time and refreshes every minute.
  • Empty state: when there are no events today it shows a calendar icon and "Nothing scheduled today" centered over the track.

There are no edit controls here; events are managed on the Calendar screen.
