Overview#
The command palette is a search box that opens from anywhere in Gene App. Type, and it filters pages and individual settings in real time. Select a result to go straight there.
It is search-first, not a fixed list of commands.
Open the palette#
- Press
Cmd+K(macOS) orCtrl+K(Windows/Linux) from any screen. The same shortcut toggles it closed, andEsccloses it too. - Click the Search pill near the top of the sidebar (it shows a
⌘Kbadge). - When the sidebar is collapsed, click the search icon button (its tooltip reads "Search · ⌘K").
The input ("Search pages and settings...") is focused automatically when the overlay opens. With no text typed, it suggests searching for any page or setting, such as "time zone" or "billing". Closing the overlay clears the query and resets results.
What the results show#
The palette groups results into two sections, Pages and Settings. A section only appears when it has matches for your query.
Each result's icon sits on a small tile coloured by the area of the app it belongs to, so you can tell at a glance where a result will take you:
- Inbox and Flows: green.
- Contacts and Tasks: amber.
- Pipeline: orange.
- AI: purple.
- Settings: grey, and so on.
A setting filed under an area, such as Flows > Inbound, takes that area's colour rather than the Settings grey.
Pages#
Pages filter instantly over the app navigation tree, showing up to 8 results. Selecting a page navigates to it.
- Matching: against the breadcrumb path and hidden alias keywords.
- Aliases let you find pages by common names. For example, typing "campaigns" or "outreach" surfaces Flows.
- What's included: Dashboard, AI, Master AI, Inbox, Contacts, Pipeline, Tasks, Calendar, Flows, Settings, and Learn, along with their sub-pages (for example Flows > Inbound, Flows > Routing, Inbox > Scheduled, Settings > Communication, Settings > Lead Sources > Website).
- Only pages your role and workspace can open are offered.
Settings#
Settings results deep-link to individual settings fields.
- They appear once you type at least 2 characters.
- Matching is on the field label plus keywords, and every typed word must match somewhere.
- Up to 8 results show, each with its path underneath.
- Selecting a field opens the settings page with that field highlighted (the page scrolls to the field and flashes it).
The index covers about 130 fields across Business Profile, My Profile, Team, Billing, Pipelines, Calendars, Communication, Lead Sources, Flows > Inbound, and the AI configuration areas (Sales agent, Company, Knowledge, Conversion).
No match#
The palette searches pages and settings only, not your records. When nothing matches it says "No pages or settings match" with a Search contacts for "..." link that opens Contacts with your text already in the search box.
Moving through results#
- The up and down arrow keys move the highlight across every result (pages, then settings).
- Enter opens the highlighted item.
- Hovering with the mouse also moves the highlight, and clicking opens it.
Keyboard shortcuts#
App-wide keyboard shortcuts work on any screen. Single-key shortcuts are ignored while you are typing in an input or text field. In the Inbox they are also ignored while a dialog, menu or popover is open, and while an input method is composing a character.
| Shortcut | What it does |
|---|---|
? | Open the Keyboard Shortcuts help dialog |
Cmd+K / Ctrl+K | Open or close the search palette |
G then D | Go to Dashboard |
G then I | Go to Inbox |
G then C | Go to Contacts |
G then P | Go to Pipeline |
G then T | Go to Tasks |
J / K (Inbox) | Move between conversations. The cursor stays in the list, so what you type next is not put into a reply |
R (Inbox) | Reply: puts the cursor in the open conversation's message box |
E (Inbox) | Archive the open conversation, or unarchive it if it is archived |
/ (Inbox) | Jump to the conversation search box |
J / K (Contacts) | Move between contacts |
Enter (Contacts) | Open a contact |
For the "go to" shortcuts, press G, then the second key within half a second.
Tips#
- There are no separate "create", "theme toggle", or "sign out" commands in the palette. To reach those, search for the relevant page (for example Settings > My Profile) and use the controls there.
- To find a person, use Search contacts for "..." when nothing matches, or the search box on Contacts.
