Custom dashboards
Build your own Analytics dashboards by asking Gene in the sidebar, or widget by widget, from a fixed list of metrics such as response rate per smart list and leads moved to Lost each week.
Overview#
The Custom tab of Analytics holds your workspace's own dashboards. Every workspace has it. Each dashboard is a set of widgets, and each widget is one metric shown as a line, bars, a single number or a table.
Everyone who can see Analytics sees the same dashboards and can change them.
Build one with Gene#
Open the Gene sidebar and describe what you want to see, for example:
- "Show me the weekly response rate per smart list."
- "Chart the leads moved to Lost each week, by reason."
- "A dashboard with new leads by source per month and appointments booked."
On the Custom tab, Ask Gene to build one (or Ask Gene once you have a dashboard) opens the sidebar with that question ready.
Gene picks the matching metrics, saves the dashboard and opens it. You can ask it to add or remove widgets later, naming the dashboard and the chart in your own words ("take the messages chart off my Sales dashboard"). With no dashboard named, Gene works on the one you have open. Whatever Gene adds, changes or removes shows on the page straight away, no reload needed.
When you name no time frame, Gene does not ask for one. It builds the chart over the last 90 days (30 days for a short-term question) and tells you which range it used.
A chart splits one way only. For something like "messages by Gene versus the team, per channel", Gene builds two charts, one split by sender and one by channel, and says that is what it built.
After building, Gene describes each chart as it was really built ("Deals won as one number, this month") and quotes only the figures that chart shows right now. It never quotes a number from elsewhere, such as the Overview's all-time counts. After removing a chart, it names the chart it removed.
Gene only says a dashboard or chart was created, changed or removed once it really was. If the change does not go through, Gene tells you nothing changed.
To open a dashboard from anywhere in Gene App, ask for it by name or by a chart on it, for example "open my dashboard with the response rate chart".
Gene only charts the metrics listed below. When you ask for something none of them measures, Gene says so and suggests the closest one. It never estimates a number.
Build one by hand#
- Go to Analytics > Custom and click New dashboard. A double click still makes one dashboard.
- Name it. The new dashboard opens with its name selected, so just type over it. The name saves as you type, and a long name wraps onto a second line rather than being cut off.
- Click Add widget, choose the metric, how to show it, the range and, for a line, bars or a table, an optional breakdown and the period (day, week or month), then click Add. A Number shows one figure for the whole range, so its Breakdown and Every fields are greyed out. Fields that do not apply stay in place, greyed out, so the popup does not jump around. The popup only offers combinations that work: if a range you pick does not fit the period (Month on 7 days, say), Every goes back to Week and a note under the fields says why, for example "Every changed to Week. Monthly needs a range of 90 days or more."
Remove a widget from its ... menu. It goes at once, and a toast lets you Undo it for 10 seconds. Delete a dashboard from the ... menu next to its name; the next dashboard opens straight away.
The Custom tab opens on the dashboard you last opened in this browser. A link to a specific dashboard opens that one instead.
Metrics#
| Metric | What it counts | Breakdowns |

| Leads moved to Lost | Leads marked Lost in the period that are still Lost | Lost reason, Lead source, Smart list |
| Deals won | Leads marked Won in the period | Lead source, Smart list |
| Response rate | Of the leads you messaged in the period, the share who wrote back within 7 days of your first message to them that period | Smart list, Channel, Lead source |
| Conversations started | New conversations on any channel | Channel |
| Messages sent | Messages sent to leads by Gene AI or your team, failed sends left out | Channel, Sent by |
| Messages received | Messages your leads sent | Channel |
| Appointments booked | Appointments booked in the period, counted by when they were booked | None |
Details#
- Weeks start on Monday. Days, weeks and months follow UTC.
- Ranges: last 7, 30 or 90 days, 6 months, 12 months, This month (the calendar month so far) or Last month (the whole previous calendar month). A daily chart covers up to 90 days, and a monthly chart needs at least 90 days or a calendar month. For "deals won this month", use a Number on This month; its subtitle shows just the range.
- Weekly and monthly charts count from the first day of the range, so the first week or month can be partial, and the current week or month is still running. The tooltip says so, for example "Week of Sep 21 (from Sep 23)" for the first and "Week of Oct 19 (to Oct 22)" or "October 2026 (to Oct 22)" for the last. Months read like "Apr 2026".
- Axis labels: every period gets a label when they fit; on a narrower card, labels are shown at an even step, always keeping the first and the last.
- Tables list the periods oldest first, the same order as the charts. When a table scrolls sideways, the row label and Total columns stay pinned on the left.
- Smart lists: a smart list breakdown shows up to five of your smart lists, using who is in each list today. A lead in two lists counts in both. In a workspace with no smart lists the widget says "This workspace has no smart lists yet"; save a filter as a smart list on Contacts and it fills in.
- Breakdowns show the five biggest values. For counts, the rest are added up as Other.
- A week in which nobody was messaged has no response rate, shown as a gap, not 0%.
- Numbers are worked out fresh each time you open the dashboard. Opening a dashboard uses no credits. Asking Gene to build one is a normal sidebar message.
- Seats with Restrict lead visibility on cannot open custom dashboards, since they count the whole workspace. The tab tells them "These figures include leads you do not have access to".
- A workspace holds up to 30 dashboards, and a dashboard up to 12 charts. At 12, Add widget says "A dashboard holds up to 12 charts".
- Widgets sit two to a row on wide screens and in one column below about 1024px.
